The
coordinating committee for the 11th International Conference of the Learning
Sciences is pleased to announce a competition to design the logo for the conference. The conference will be held in June
2014 on the campus of the University of Colorado Boulder.
We
are seeking a logo design that reflects both the
conference theme and the area where the conference will be held. The theme of
the conference is “Learning and Becoming in Practice,” and we encourage
proposals related to the epistemic practices of disciplines, learning in
sociocultural practices, practices of design, practices of modeling learning
across setting and time, and practices of scaling and sustainability.
The
competition is open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from any
field. The winner of thelogo design will have their
registration fee for the conference waived.
Requirements
for the logo are:
Includes
the name of the conference and location (University of Colorado Boulder)
Reflects
conference theme and place
Looks
great on a large-format poster as well as a web site
Only
includes images you have the right to use and modify. To support this task, we
have made a Dropbox folder containing images publicly available https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yzrisee63xpe0hw/iAqwifwmgo. You may use
images you have created, or those you find that are covered by a license
allowing for free reuse, modification, and distribution.
Entries
must include JPEGs with at least 100 dpi. Because the logo will be used for various purposes, you must submit TWO
versions:
1 small format
for computer screens (~5-8 inches wide)
2 large format
for printing on banners (~50-80 inches wide)
By
submitting a logo, you agree to a Creative Commons
License, as the finalists may be displayed and the winning logo will be used on promotional items. Finalists will be asked
to provide the original file used to create the image (e.g., .ai, .eps, .psd,
etc.) and alternate versions, such as grayscale and black&white line art,
may be generated. Preferred color model is CMYK (as opposed to RGB).
Entries for the competition are due to Vanessa Svihla at vsvihla@unm.edu on January 14th, 2013. The winner will be
announced in the last week of January.
